The book touches on a few elements of truth - such as the fact that
the U.S. government really did embark on an unethical and insane
research projects called MK-ULTRA and Project Monarch. Most of the
evidence of that project was destroyed by Richard Helms, however there
is enough hard evidence that exists which proves at least some of the
claimed activities took place.
Unfortunately, just like the Remote Viewing government project, most
surreal research that takes place by the U.S. government generates an
entire army of "believers" who latch on to those paranormal topics.
These people have a conviction of the reality of the phenomenon or
event, bolstered by the fact that the U.S. government was - at least at
one point - interested in it.
Springmeier launches his claims upon the MK-ULTRA activities, at
least in part. Most of the book is a history lesson with both historic
fact and baseless speculation interwoven into a new and surreal altered
reality, where you are no longer sure what is "real" history and what
has simply been filled in by Springmeier.
